Students studying French will not only explore the French language but also literature, history and culture, and develop cultural awareness and critical thinking skills. This French major aims to strengthen students’ linguistic skills and give them a contextual understanding of the language. Students may also study abroad in France for academic credit as well as academic exchange in areas including Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. Students may also compete for an award of excellence given by the Alliance Française of Halifax. The winners get to a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to Paris offered by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
