According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook initiative, the current demand for tertiary level qualified occupational health and safety (OHS) professionals is set for continued strong growth in coming years. Government regulators such as Work Safe Victoria emphasise the need for employers to use qualified OHS professionals.
This course is for you if you wish to work as a professional in the rapidly growing field of OHS, and gain specialist knowledge of ergonomics. It is suitable for you if you're already working in the field and need to upgrade your qualifications to meet new OHS professional practice requirements. You can also study this course if you're not already working in OHS and ergonomics.
Our Master of Ergonomics, Safety and Health will help you develop the diverse range of skills needed in Australian and international workplaces. Areas of study include OHS principles and legislation, public health, complex health issues including musculoskeletal and psychological disorders, health promotion and prevention, and designing for a diverse workforce.
You'll be introduced to the development, goals, and status of the national prevention agenda in Australia, and reflect on the status of this agenda in other countries.
This course reflects the specialist practitioner expertise of our staff at the Centre for Ergonomics and Human Factors. The Centre is a national and international leader in research aimed at developing more effective workplace methods for preventing musculoskeletal injuries (Australia's largest OHS problem).
You can study this course part-time over four years or full time over two years. The course is offered wholly online, enabling you to combine study with other commitments. Depending on prior qualifications, this course can be completed in 1.5 or 2 years (full time).
