This programme offers you a theoretical framework and an in-depth training in economic theory and econometrics, allowing you to provide well-grounded answers to socio-economic questions.
Programme structure
The programme offers you a theoretical framework and an in-depth training in economic theory, econometrics and applied economics which allows you to provide well-grounded answers to socio-economic questions. You should have an interest in the dynamics of economy and society, the ability to analyse, synthesise and interpret information. The programme consists of a common core of three programme units (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics) and a master's thesis. You complete your programme by choosing courses out of the elective groups.
Career perspectives
As a graduate of MSc in Economics, you will be qualified for employment in a variety of contexts and positions, including government research centres, professional associations, large enterprises, international organisations, government departments, public institutions, international organisations, financial services, companies and social organisations. Admission requirements
To be eligible for the Master of Science in Economics, you have to hold an academic bachelor’s degree in either economics or business economics that is equivalent to one of the following KU Leuven degrees:
- BSc in Economics
- BSc in Business Economics
- BSc in Business Engineering
Students need a solid background in:- microeconomics and macroeconomics
- mathematics, statistics and econometrics
- other courses in economics.
