Creativity and entrepreneurship are leading themes in the cultural sector, and in the new economy. The Master Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship in Rotterdam explore thoroughly these themes.

Students acquire a solid background in cultural economics, cultural entrepreneurship, and research methods. They learn about the latest theoretical developments in the economics of:

  • art markets,
  • cultural organizations,
  • cultural and creative industries,
  • digitization,
  • performing arts,
  • marketing of cultural goods,
  • and about culture beyond markets.
In seminars, workshops and during fieldtrips students will apply the theory to actual cases. In the final thesis students pursue a topic of their choice, and develop the skills to conduct their own research.

  • At least a bachelor's degree from a recognised Dutch university programme with a good overall result, or an equivalent qualification from an international institution.
  • Some training in economics at university level, combined with a sustained interest in arts and culture documented in academic studies and/or vocational experience.
  • Well-documented interest in the cultural sector, as indicated by courses taken or practical experience.
  • Academic training in empirical research methods.
