Master's Degree in Music, Composition and Sound Creation Option

General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Minimum average:

• Bishop: 75%
• Concordia University: 3.0/4.3
• Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
• HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
• McGill University: 3.0/4.0
• Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0
• University of Sherbrooke: 3.0/4.3
• Laval University: 3.0/4.3
• Universities of Quebec: 3.2/4.3

To be eligible as a regular student in the Master of Music program, Composition and Sound Creation option (M. Mus.), the candidate must:

• meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies;
• hold a bachelor's degree in instrumental composition, mixed composition, writing or digital music, or hold a 3rd cycle diploma from the Conservatory in composition or attest to any other training deemed equivalent by the dean;
• have obtained, in their previous studies, an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 or the equivalent;
• have completed or taken as complementary courses any undergraduate course deemed relevant to support the research and creation project.
• attend an interview to present your project. Please note that the Faculty of Music requires a minimum amount of $50 for the audition and/or interview and/or test(s), regardless of their number. These fees only apply once, whether the student has one or more auditions and/or interviews in one or more programs, throughout their time at the Faculty of Music. These fees are non-refundable.
