The University of Sussex is yet again the best university in the world for development studies, one of five UK universities in the top 10 this year. The top 10 also has two new entrants: the Australian National University (ANU) in ninth and the University of Copenhagen in 10th.

Although they are outnumbered in the top 10 by UK institutions, American universities make up the largest proportion of this year’s ranking. 23 of the 100 universities included this year are based in the US, including Syracuse University which is a new entrant this year.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are based upon academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact (click here to read the full methodology).
