With Harvard University retaining its status as the best university in the world for sociology, and the University of Manchester the only new entrant in the top 20, this year’s ranking is a relatively stable one.

Ireland is the only one of the 42 countries featured where a different university is now the best in the country for sociology when compared to last year. Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has risen from 251-300 to 51-100, overtaking the two other Irish universities in this year’s ranking.
