The SDSU Mathematics and Statistics Department offers Master’s degrees in applied mathematics, mathematics, mathematics education, statistics and biostatistics. The applied mathematics program also offers two specializations: communications and dynamical systems. The Department plays a leading role in joint doctoral programs in Math & Science Education with the University of California-San Diego, and in Computational Science and Computational Statistics with Claremont Graduate University. Research specialties of our faculty include Bayesian analysis, biological mathematics, biostatistics, climate mathematics and statistics, computational mathematics, coding theory, cryptography, differential equations, dynamical systems, graph theory, mathematics education, mathematical modeling, mathematical physics, number theory and algebra, signal/image processing, and statistical theory.
