Samarkand State University in Uzbekistan was established in 1927, closely linked to the Temurids period and Ulughbek's Academy. It reflects the rich history and achievements of the period, including its history, science, education, architecture, art and culture.
Located in the city of Samarkand in eastern Uzbekistan, Samarkand State University – also known simply as SamSU – offers students over 30 bachelor’s study areas and more than 40 master’s degree programmes. It’s one of the oldest and largest higher educational establishments in Uzbekistan: though it was officially inaugurated as the University beginning of the 20th century, its roots go back to the Ulughbek period.
Thanks to its illustrious reputation, dozens of major state, cultural and scientific figures, writers and poets have emerged from the university during its lifetime.
