Read more department of Industrial & Production Engineering, department of Chemical & Food Engineering are in the same faculty. Method of Course Offering and Instruction the undergraduate curriculum of the university is based on course system. The salient features of the course system are as follows: Generally number of regular theoretical courses taken by a student will not exceed five in each semester- Continuous evaluation of student's performance by using Letter Grades and Grade Points. The course curriculum is designed in such a way that it contains several optional courses that enables students to choose courses according to their interests as far as possible. The flexibility to allow the student to progress at his/her own pace depending on his/her ability or convenience, subject to the regulations on credit and minimum grade point average (GPA) requirements, and Promotion of teacher -student contact in the curriculum for 'the undergraduate programs, besides the professional courses pertaining to each discipline, there is a strong emphasis on acquiring a thorough knowledge in basic sciences of mathematics, physics and chemistry and subjects in humanities and social sciences. The goal of the materials and metallurgical engineering undergraduate program is to provide an understanding of the underlying principles of synthesis, characterization and processing of materials and the interrelationships among structure, properties, and processing. The program prepares students for professional careers in a wide variety of industries as well as for advanced study in these fields. It also provides students with the opportunity to broaden their education in engineering and science or to expand their knowledge in a particular technical area by offering course foundations encore areas of materials and metallurgical engineering. Building communication skills of the students is also one of the prime tasks of the program which will help them to interact more positively with the society. Read less
