    TAFE Student Authority form

    To apply for Bachelor of Social Work (Integrated Pathway) you'll need to complete the TAFE Student Authority form and submit this along with your application.

    How to apply

    All applicants must apply to Charles Sturt University through UAC or direct to Charles Sturt University online. Applicants for the integrated pathway must also apply online to an affiliated TAFE NSW campus for a course that will lead to completion of a Diploma of Community Services (see Credit and Pathways section).

    Supporting documents

    A range of supporting documentation must be provided with your application for admission based on the entry pathways.

    All applicants applying directly to Charles Sturt University must provide:

    • a current résumé
    • official copies of the certificate/diploma and transcripts for any completed Certificate III or higher qualification
    • a copy of HSC/VCE or similar results (if available)
    • any other relevant documents to support your application for admission.

    All applicants for the articulated pathway must also provide

    • an official copy of the diploma and transcript for their completed Diploma of Community Services or similar human services diploma.

    All applicants for the integrated pathway must also provide

    • evidence of concurrent enrolment with TAFE NSW in a course that will lead to completion of a Diploma of Community Services
    • a completed Bachelor of Social Work consent form – TAFE integrated pathway

    Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)

    Students will be invited to enter the Honours program on completion of the first three years of the Bachelor of Social Work (full-time equivalent).

    Acceptance into the program is subject to the approval of a Social Work Honours Committee. Normally students should have Grade Point Average of 5.0 or higher AND have completed the following subjects:

    • HCS204 Research Methods
    • HCS200 Social Work Theory and Practice 1
    • HCS202 Social Work Theory and Practice 2
    • HCS303 Social Work Field Education 1
    Bachelor of Social Work

    An ATAR of 65 (including adjustment factors)
    OR
    Successful completion of two University level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies
    OR
    A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification undertaken post-secondary schooling.
    OR
    50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification
    OR
    Successful completion of a Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies
    OR
    Successful completion of the CSU Indigenous Access Program
    OR
    Successful application via the Schools Recommendation Scheme

    AND
    Standard English Language Proficiency requirements - refer to http://futurestudents.csu.edu.au/apply/english-language  for the specific requirements.


    Integrated Bachelor of Social Work

    Students may be admitted to the course on the basis of:

    Meeting one of the requirements as set above (ATAR of 60 or equivalent) and standard English language requirements*
    AND
    Concurrent enrolment with an affiliated institution in a course that will lead to completion of a Diploma of Community Services.


    Articulated Bachelor of Social Work

    Students may also be admitted to the course on the basis of a completed accredited Diploma in the human services discipline, including, but not limited to those listed below:

    * Diploma of Community Services
    * Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs)
    * Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health)
    * Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)
    * Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling)
    * Diploma of Community Services (Mental Health)
    * Diploma of Community Services Work
    * Diploma of Community Development
    * Diploma of Counselling
    * Diploma of Disability
    * Diploma of Youth Work
    OR
    Other completed Diploma in the human services discipline, as assessed as appropriate by the Course Director
