This new course, launched for 2020, aims to address a key skills gap in the UK. It is designed to be contemporary, innovative and to meet the needs of industry. Structures, materials, geotechnics, transport infrastructure engineering and construction management are the core courses of this programme. Students will be equipped with the key expertise, and an additional specialism, to enhance their employability. The final year will feature main research and design projects. The core subjects at the heart of the degree are structures, materials, geotechnics, transport infrastructure engineering and construction management. The BEng Civil Engineering programme is fully operational and accreditation will be sought from The Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), which represents The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), and the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).
