Initially situated as a division within the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, and RSUD Dr Soetomo, the Specialist Program in Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy has evolved in alignment with the progressions in surgical science As surgical practices have advanced, the field of Anesthesiology has followed suit This evolution has paved the way for the emergence of distinct specialized domains within Anesthesiology, thereby giving rise to sub-specializations including Cardiovascular Anesthesia, Neuroanesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Obstetric Anesthesia, Orthopedic Anesthesia, Trauma and Emergency Anesthesia, and Anesthesia for Organ Transplant Pain Management This comprehensive program spans eight semesters and has earned accreditation from both the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) and international recognition from ASIIN.
