This course addressed the increasing demand for wholesome and safe food produced from companies with humane and sustainable production practices. Students will learn about exciting developments in animal management, disease control, improved welfare and new molecular technologies as well as exploring how new DNA technologies are transforming human’s traditional food and fibre production systems and get an in-depth understanding of animal production. This course incorporates a total of eight weeks industry experience across three or more industries. Students will tour WA’s South Western Region for a week during their third year and have the opportunity to travel to the eastern states of Australia to compete at the Intercollegiate Meat Judging program and/or at the National Merino Challenge. For students who wish to apply to study Veterinary Science, it is recommended to study this degree with a double major in Animal Health.
