The “ Sociology of Inquiry ” Master's is characterized by the desire not to separate theoretical questioning and empirical requirement in the sociological approach. He brings in-depth theoretical knowledge in the sociology of the family, health, work, but also in the sociology of social inequalities, gender, and digital practices. Students acquire solid skills in a wide range of methods: survey methods by interview, by observation, by questionnaire, statistical analysis of data under R, textual analysis, use of the Web for social sciences, visual sociology. An individual research dissertation is required in M1 as in M2, allowing each student to develop an issue individually from the constitution of an original corpus.
The training is supplemented by the learning of skills essential to the exercise of the profession of sociologist: notions of law and ethics applied to surveys in the social sciences, sociology in English, tools for bibliographic management, training in the techniques of response to calls for tenders.
The Master's in Sociology of Inquiry therefore offers theoretical and methodological training preparing for the various activities of the professions of sociology, in the field of public research as well as in the field of the private or semi-public sector. It also allows the continuation of doctoral studies (in France and abroad).
