The purpose of the " Japanese Studies " specialty of the LLCER Master's is to train researchers, experts, actors in professional life, with a solid knowledge of the language (N1 of the JLPT), of the Japanese culture and society.
Teaching and research management are provided by a team made up of more than 30 specialists from the University of Paris Diderot and the National Institute of Oriental Languages ​​and Civilizations (INALCO).
To consolidate his knowledge of the language and the terrain, the student has the possibility of integrating into his course a year of mobility in a Japanese partner university.
The training benefits from a privileged environment with two mixed research units specializing in Asian studies: the Center for Research on the Civilizations of East Asia (CRCAO) and the French Institute for Research on East Asia ( IFRAE).
Students have free access to the rich collections of Japanese books in Parisian libraries, including those of BULAC, the LCAO library and even that of the Institute of Advanced Japanese Studies.
The Master is bound by a cooperation agreement with the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (EPHE) and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) where the student can complete his training.
The training is available in M2 according to three paths: the “Research” path, the “Professionalizing” path and the “Teaching” path.
