The PhD in Music enhances the candidates’ research and academic skills enabling them to excel on a local and international level in the areas of Music Education, Musicology and Composition.

The doctorate program’s three specializations—Music Education, Musicology and Composition—offer a broad and comprehensive program in Music to highly qualified students, contributing to the development and upgrading of research activity and shaping a critical and analytical stance towards culture. SPECIFIC ADMISSION CRITERIA:

  • The School, after examining the content/discipline of previous academic studies, in relation to the area of specialization of the Program and the proposed research area/discipline, reserves the right to request that applicants take specified post graduate courses and/or pass specified appraisals prior to admission.
  • All candidates will be invited to an interview.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENT:

  1. A completed application form together with a non-refundable fee of €52. Applicants may also apply online here.
  2. Research Proposal. The applicant should describe in a coherent and comprehensive manner his/her research proposal not exceeding 1, 000 words including: title/research field, aims and objectives, importance of the proposed study, literature review on the theoretical background of the idea and proposed methodology.
  3. Official copies of bachelor’s and master’s degrees (or official letter verifying that the applicant has successfully completed all degree requirements)
  4. Official copies of academic transcripts
  5. Proof of English language proficiency
  6. Copies of relevant publications (up to two)
  7. One letter of recommendation from faculty member of higher academic institutions
  8. Other supporting documents such as awards, distinctions, etc.
  9. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  10. Copy of valid passport (for international applicants only)

EUC is located in Nicosia, Cyprus’ capital and largest city. The university is situated near the center of political, economic and cultural activity in the country. EUC has recently expanded and opened a new campus, consists of modern facilities, well-equipped laboratories, amphitheatre lecture halls, student apartments and entertainment venues.

EUC’s Center for Applied Research was established in 1991 as an independent, non-governmental institution, providing market research, training, and consultancy services to public and private sector clients. The Center also emphasizes the importance of accurate, ethical data collection, sharing the findings of CAR projects as widely as possible. EUC’s faculty collaborates with scientists from some of world’s best universities including Harvard, Oxford, Imperial College London, Cambridge, University College London, King’s College London, Queen Mary,  and the University of London. EUC’s researchers coordinate or participate in a number of prestigious projects funded by the European Commission and the Research Promotion Foundation in Cyprus.

All Master’s and PhD Programs have been approved by the Accreditation Committee of Private Universities of the Ministry of Education and Culture and are recognized worldwide. European University Cyprus has six schools: the School of Arts and Education Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Sciences, the School of Medicine and the School of Law.
