We recognise that many Art students want to specialise from the outset of their degree, focusing the development of skills in one clear discipline area. The Textiles programme allows students to become highly specialized in the development of textile-based work. Textiles incorporates elements of 2D and 3D practices, links to painting (surface, colour, collage, flat surfaces), as well as sculpture (structural textiles, 3D hangings, mixedmedia). You will be encouraged to learn a varied set of skills and techniques in studio and workshop activity, including weaving, stitch, felt-making, dying, and knitting. Working in textiles allows fine art orientated exploration and interacts with sculpture, painting printmaking and installation work. We will encourage you to develop an intellectual curiosity, and a sense of adventure, with an ability to deal with the unpredictable.

As a general guide, for postgraduate study you'll need to hold the equivalent of a good honours degree (a 2:1 or 2:2 depending on the course) from a recognised university.

We also accept applications from students who have completed a 'top-up' degree at a UK university. If you hold a UK degree you don't need to provide an IELTS or other English language test certificate.
