The objective of the Master's Degree Course in Rehabilitation Sciences of the Health Professions is to provide advanced cultural and professional training to intervene with high skills in the care, management, training and research processes in the areas relevant to the various health professions included in the class ( Podiatrist, Physiotherapist, Speech therapist, Orthoptist-assistant of ophthalmology, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Technician, Occupational Therapist, Professional Educator, Neuro-psychomotor therapist in developmental age).
The Master's Degree Course in Rehabilitation Sciences of the Health Professions aims to provide training that allows graduates to: - coordinate and / or manage simple and complex organizations using tools and measures for planning, human resource management, accounting in the business economy; - detect and critically evaluate the evolution of rehabilitation needs and plan the therapeutic intervention in the rehabilitation field of the class to which they belong; - identify the environmental risk factors, assess their effects on health and prepare protective measures in the workplace; - manage work groups and apply appropriate strategies to favor multi-professional and organizational integration processes; - manage professional development plans, which include continuous evaluations, definitions and identification of objectives and the implementation for their achievement; - carry out a systematic bibliographic search, also through databases and the relative periodic updates; - carry out literature reviews, even of a systematic nature, aimed at producing a scientific article; - collaborate with quantitative and qualitative research projects; - verify the application of the results of the research activities for the continuous improvement of the activities in the rehabilitation field; - practice in compliance with the main laws that regulate the health organization, as well as with the rules of ethics and professional responsibility; - decide and apply appropriate techniques for individual and group communication and for the management of interpersonal relationships with patients and their families; - evaluate the individual and collective results of patients using valid and reliable measures that take into account the context in which patients are receiving the appropriate rehabilitation interventions, the variables of cultural competence and the effect of social factors; - collaborate with the care team to implement and develop protocols and guidelines; - organize and correctly interpret the health information of the specific professional from the various resources and databases available; - use the technology associated with information and communications as a valid support for rehabilitation, therapeutic and preventive interventions and for the surveillance and monitoring of the state of health; - document their rehabilitation practice also for the purpose of subsequent analysis for continuous improvement; - planning and carrying out training interventions for updating and permanent training relating to the healthcare structures of reference; - participate, observe and plan management, conduct and coordination processes of a Bachelor's and Master's Degree Course, 1st and 2nd level Masters and increase, in the context of the tutoring and coordination activities of the internship in basic, complementary and permanent training, the teaching skills for the specific professional figure; - participate in the planning and management of educational activities in the context of lifelong learning aimed at rehabilitation professionals; - design and implement, in collaboration with other professionals, educational and support interventions for the individual and the community for self-management and control of risk factors and health problems: - instructing the Community Bodies on the legal aspects with reference to the administrative and jurisdictional regulatory competences of the specific profile, so as to be easily integrated in relations with foreign States and their respective Regulations.

Tuition fees

The University of Milan is a public institution. Therefore, the university offers lower tuition fees in proportion to income, with fees being curbed in order to guarantee, to the greatest possible extent, the right for every student to have the opportunity to study. 

For international students, enrolment fees vary according to the student’s citizenship and can vary between €156 to maximum of €1,156 each academic year.

The University of Milan also offers scholarships and other special funding, such as refectory and accommodation services. Enrolled students can apply for a scholarship, depending on whether they’re based on merit, income or both.

The Excellence Scholarships program is particularly aimed at international students. The program offers 100 incentive grants to the newly enrolled best international students at master’s level. The incentives include 50 scholarships of €6,000 plus enrollment fee exemption.

Entry requirements

Those who hold, or are about to complete a bachelor's degree (or equivalent title) by the end of December or by the deadline indicated in the Program Structure for the selected master's degree program may apply to enroll on a postgraduate degree program. 

Graduates who wish to apply for a doctoral program or a medical specialization school must follow the instructions in the competitive examination announcements.

For specific entry requirements you should also consult the master’s degree program that you’re interested in applying to. 

European citizens, non-EU citizens who reside in Italy with a current, valid “permesso di soggiorno” (residence permit) and natives of Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein can apply. Non-EU citizens who are residents abroad must submit a pre-application request to the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.

Some master degree programs have open admissions (on the basis of a case-by-case evaluation of the student candidature). Other programs will require candidates to sit an admission tests in order to ensure they are eligible for their chosen course of study.
