As an entrepreneurship major, you'll also have the chance to develop fully operational business plans based on your own ideas and present it to real business executives and venture capitalists. UIndy also offers a minor in entrepreneurship and is the only school in Indiana to offer an entrepreneurship minor for non-business majors. The program will give you a strong background in the many aspects of business, which is a great compliment to majors in all fields. Program Strengths: Emphasis on practical application of concepts and hands-on experiences, Students develop at least two complete, operational business plans based on their own ideas for a successful business, Students have the opportunity to present their business plans to real business executives and venture capitalists, Strong focus on helping students develop unique critical thinking skills and an "entrepreneurial mindset", Networking opportunities with local business owners. Entrepreneurship students and grads have interned or work for: Ingersoll Rand, Royal United Mortgage, Backhaul Direct. Potential careers with an Entrepreneurship degree: A common misconception about the entrepreneurship major is that it's only for students who want to start their own businesses. While this is an important aspect of the program, the skills you'll learn through the entrepreneurship major also are critical in any organization, from a small business to a large corporation. In the entrepreneurship program, you'll learn how to effectively plan for a business' future by taking into consideration the many controllable and uncontrollable factors that businesses must contend with. These skills can help you run your own business, or they can transfer to business careers in many fields.
