The language courses provide students with an understanding of the structure and evolution of Chinese language, as well as its cognitive and social functions in communicative and interactional contexts. The literature courses enable students to read and interpret literary works of different periods and genres, to gain a sound knowledge in relevant intellectual development, and to develop an appreciation for the aesthetics encompassed in Chinese literature.
