The mission of the chemistry program is to educate each student on the nature of chemistry and biochemistry, and to prepare the student with sufficient knowledge and skills to pursue productive work in chemistry, or to attend graduate school in chemistry, or to attend professional school in the health sciences, and to enable students in the use of chemistry to interpret every day life in the pursuit of enlightened living and community involvement. CURRICULUM: This is a suggested schedule that will allow students to fulfill the Chemistry degree requirements, as well as the University LLOs. Other classes may be substituted as alternative paths to completing the LLO requirements. Please note that lab classes are not listed separately, but included in the total number of hours. Please see the online catalog for the Chemistry-Biology degree curriculum. COURSE OUTLINE: The University of Charleston offers a Pre-Professional Concentration designed to facilitate admissions to and success in professional programs, including Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary medicine, Physician Assistant and the School of Pharmacy. The Pre-Professional Concentration is available in both the Biology and Chemistry programs, and the curriculum also serves students in the Traditional Pre-Pharmacy Concentration. Read less
