This course aims to teach the student about medical developments generally as well as those specific to Malaysia. Students will be exposed to the Medical Act and Ethics in the medical profession. They will be trained to acquire the skills and characteristics of a good doctor and develop proper ethical relationships between the doctor and his/her patient. This course will emphasis proper methods of communication with patients as well as the medical service professionals, adopt appropriate counselling procedures and install in them the need to pursue continuous medical education. They also need to understand the significance of systematic self-study and working in small groups, as well as manage time effectively and cope with stress, develop good communication skills and diplomacy. They also learn to acquire knowledge through e- learning. For understanding the community and the patient more effectively, they hold discussions on cultural issues, sensitivities and ethnic medicine They are first introduced to the medical discipline and the patient through mastery of medical terminology and interaction with the patient and the community, understanding the role of sickness and acquisition of skill in handling medical equipment.
Program Objective
On successful completion of the programme, candidates should possess the ability to provide efficient and total health management to patients. Contribute and participate actively in community health programmes. Practice medicine, throughout their career, in a humanitarian, ethical, moral and cost-effective manner. Serve in a self-reliant manner as well as collaborating with other professional colleagues with loyalty and a strong sense of team spirit. Learn from experience and adapt to change, as an integral part of the process of self-learning to improve performance.
Duration of Study
The duration of the undergraduate medical programme is five (5) to seven (7) years.
In the 3 - 5 Year, students are given minimal lectures and go through rotational clinical postings. They are expected to change their learning mode to an apprenticeship or internship type model where most of learning is achieved by seeing patients in different context and setting.
Fully accredited by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and recognized by Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)

1. GCE O- Level: at least 5 subjects grade B AND
2. GCE A-Level (Grade BBB, ABC or AAC in 3 subjects i.e Biology, and Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics), OR
3. IB; Min overall score 30 points, 2 science subjects (Biology and Chemistry) at Higher Level (HL) and Mathematics at HL and obtained a minimum score at 5 each in Biology; and Chemistry; and Mathematics and obtained 5Bs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics/ Additional Mathematics.
