Read more based in the main campus of TMU healthcare system and is composed of multidisplinary teams specializing in nanotechnology and medical technology. The major focus of GINME research is to apply nanotechnologies to develop novel reagents for molecular imaging and therapeutics in the fields including, but not limited to, cancer treatment and regenerative medicine. Furthermore, we actively collaborate with the three TMU-affiliated teaching hospitals in Taipei for early phase clinical trials needed for product validation. GINME is an internationally-oriented institute and is implementing dual degree programs, scholar exchange programs and research collaborations with leading institutes. Our aim is to establish an internationally visible program known for research excellence and track record in nanoproduct incubation.
Our faculties have an extremely wide range of expertise in medical science, mechanical engineering, material science, chemistry or biochemistry. Currently, integrative programs are being organized in GINME in nano biomedical materials and nanotechnology application with the aims toward successful clinical translations and industrial development in Taiwan.
During the first year, the enrollment of GINME was successfully achieved to offer both Ph.D. and master programs. The internationally-oriented GINME institute provides dual degree programs, scholar exchange programs and research collaborations for students with such as University of Southern California and Case Western Reserve University in USA, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
GINME is dedicated to solving clinical needs through advanced nanotechnology. We have established research laboratories, prototyping factories, and clinical trial centers in the affiliated TMU teaching hospitals to streamline clinical applications of novel nanomaterials for diagnosis, therapeutics, and public health applications. We intend to actively involve our students into academy-industrial collaboration projects and expose trainees to the frontline of R&D and commercialization. We place an emphasis on foundational knowledge and practical skills. Students will learn how to apply electrical, electronics and systems engineering in medicine and biology, and also gain experience in developing and using new technologies, including medical, instrumentation and prosthetic devices, and discover the properties of materials used in the formation of these devices.
Our trainees will be eligible to attend board certification examinations for biomedical engineers, and may develop a career in biotechnology, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, material science, healthcare, public service, and research faculty in universities. Finally, GINME will be active involvement in many international collaboration programs with leading institutes in the world will provide excellent opportunities for trainees to explore global job/research opportunities.
