Scholars in Science, Technology & Society examine the social forces that shape the creation of scientific knowledge and examine the effect that developments in science and technology have on society. What You Will Study: The Science, Technology & Society major is one of two majors that comprise the Science & Technology Studies program at the College of Arts and Letters. The curriculum includes several core courses, in which students analyze science and technology in broad historical, social, and political contexts; foundational courses in science, mathematics, and engineering; and finally a wide field of advanced topics that allow students to explore case studies and create their own research projects that combine the theoretical and the practical. Degree Outcomes: Students with a degree in Science and Technology Studies have the critical thinking and communication skills that prepare them for fields at the intersections of science, technology, and society such as policy-making, journalism, public health, museums, and social entrepreneurs. These students often pursue graduate study in medicine, law, business, information science, public policy, STS, and other related humanistic disciplines. STS Majors can also pursue a double-major in one of the science or engineering disciplines at Stevens.
