The Southern Utah University RN to BSN program was designed to accommodate the demanding work schedules of RNs seeking to move beyond their associate degree and gain the advantages inherent in a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). To earn your BSN, you will attend classes that meet one day a week for one calendar year starting in May. In addition to classroom-based courses, you will take part in clinical experiences that place you in a broad range of medical settings in Cedar City and throughout Southern Utah. These will include high acuity experiences such as Intensive Care Units (ICU), Newborn Infant Care Units (NICU), emergency rooms, and Critical Care Units (CCU). RN to BSN classes are small - no more than 35 students can be accepted into the program each year - and you will receive in-depth personal mentoring from your instructors, who are themselves practicing nurses. The culmination of your Bachelor's in Nursing degree program will be completion of the Leadership and Management self-designed in-depth topical study that will help prepare you for the type of nursing you hope to undertake in the future. By the time you complete your yearlong RN to BSN nursing program, you will be qualified to advance into nurse practitioner or other specialty nursing programs, or become part of a nursing management team. BSN Studies: The Southern Utah University RN to BSN degree program is well respected with a strong track record of graduating well-qualified nurses who are sought after by hospitals, clinics, and other care settings. Instructors in the SUU RN to BSN program are knowledgeable, practicing nurses who are passionate about nursing and about graduating nurses who are highly qualified and capable. Nursing students can complete the RN to BSN bachelor's program in one year of study while attending class one day a week. Nursing Courses You May Take Concepts in Geriatric Nursing for the RN to BSN – Explore the social, emotional, physiological, and other challenges facing aging adults. Leadership & Management for the RN to BSN – Complete a personal capstone study that develops individual management and leadership abilities. High Acuity Nursing Lab for the RN to BSN – Use problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to work through challenges facing patients with complex health challenges.
