B.A. in English Composite - Secondary Education/Creative Writing Emphasis

If you are passionate about both teaching in the public school system and writing creative work such as poetry and fiction, SUU has the right program of study for you. Our new composite English BA allows you to focus your study simultaneously on both of your passions. This degree will broaden your creative and academic experiences while preparing you to teach English composition, English literature, and creative writing in the secondary education system, making you far more marketable than students possessing just an English teaching degree Possible Careers Elementary, middle, or high school teacher of English composition, literature, and creative writing (including fiction, poetry, play-writing, and creative nonfiction) Available Resources In addition to the SUU English Department’s outstanding faculty, students also work closely with experienced faculty in the Education College. We also publish an annual student literary magazine, The Kolob Canyon Review, and host two annual conferences: a Creative Writing/Creative Teaching Conference in the fall and our Creative Writing Conference and Contest for High School Students in the spring. Students have many opportunities to participate in these activities and to publicly read and present their own creative work.
