Saint Francis University’s Computer Science department has partnered with Harrisburg University’s School of Science and Technology to offer a four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Gaming / New Media Design and Production. This new degree encompasses a next generation combination of web and entertainment technologies, including computer science, visual story-telling, and graphic arts where words, images (still and video), sound and human commands are integrated to produce a dynamic and exciting new media format. Applications in television entertainment, the internet, advertising and video games are just the beginning. The very recent past has seen unprecedented innovation in technologies for communication, computation, interactivity, and information delivery. Advances in computer processing power and the explosion of the internet have transformed the media world. The way we learn, communicate, play, and connect with one another continues to transform, requiring skilled professionals who can blend developing computing technologies with creative design. The Saint Francis University Gaming / New Media Design and Production concentration in partnership with Harrisburg University of Science and Technology provides the student with a solid foundation in cutting-edge technologies, significant design experiences and development of skills putting creative ideas into practice. Saint Francis University students choosing to pursue the Gaming / New Media Design and Production concentration will spend two semesters (2nd semester junior and 1st semester senior) onsite at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology where they will complete concentration coursework in HU’s state of the art media production facilities. Major Requirements: CPSC 121 - Introduction to Programming CPSC 122 - Intermediate Programming CPSC 221 - Introduction to Data Structures CPSC 222 - Server-Side Programming CPSC 492 - Computer Science Seminar Gaming/ New Media Design and Production Concentration: CPSC 263 - Visual Computing CPSC 363 - New Media: Design CPSC 365 - Game Design CPSC 463 - New Media: Production CPSC 468 - Senior Project 9 credits from the following courses: CPSC 410 - Software Engineering CPSC 440 - Computer Graphics and additional coursework developed by HU and approved by SFU Collateral Courses (23 credits): MATH 121 - Calculus with Analytic Geometry I MATH 130 - Discrete Mathematics MATH 215 - Introductory Statistics PHYS 121 - General Physics I PHYS 122 - General Physics II COMM 301 - Audio/Video Production THTR 102 - Introduction to the Film Art
