Our goal: To establish approaches and methodologies highlighting the Asian contribution to global musical dialogues.

Our emphasis: To integrate the sub-disciplines of musicology, to promote interdisciplinary studies, and to foster internationalized teaching and research.

Current research foci: music and modernity, music and body, sound studies.

Current faculty: 8 full-time faculty (including one Japanese Professor and two American Professors), covering Taiwan music and its social history, Chinese music history, sound studies, Western music history, music theory and analysis, aesthetics, Chinese and Taiwanese opera, and the music industry in colonial Korea. All faculty are fluent in English (and some also in German and Korean), with two lecturing mostly in English.
