The Master of Public Policy and Management (MPPM) builds practical knowledge and skills in policy-making and public management across the spectrum of public sector activities. The course will develop your understanding of the processes of policy formulation, the implementation of policy and delivery of public services and programs, and the political and structural realities that influence decision-making.
Take your Career to the Next Level
and Lead Change in Indonesia and Abroad

The degree offers flexibility to tailor your study to your career goals through the choice of two specialisations.
  • The Policy Studies stream will widen your disciplinary perspectives of public policy and provide you with a potential pathway to undertake a higher research-based degree.
  • The Global Studies stream will develop your skills and knowledge of public policy in international contexts, and prepare you for a global career. Students taking this specialisation have the opportunity to enrol in elective units taught by Monash Australia, the option to take a study tour in India, and conclude their studies with a dedicated capstone focusing on a global policy challenge.
The MPPM leverages Monash’s global reputation and expertise in delivering public policy education and has been especially designed for Indonesia to train the next generation of public policy leaders, practitioners and scholars keen to contribute towards addressing contemporary policy challenges. It combines knowledge of public policy theory and practice to enable professionals to be effective policy practitioners who can work in or with governments to shape how policy agendas are negotiated and how public policies are designed and implemented.
The MPPM is for working professionals who want to pursue or accelerate their career in a policy-related field as a policy practitioner, adviser, analyst or advocate. The course will prepare you for a career at all levels of government, NGOs, international organisations, think tanks, consulting firms and businesses that interact with government and contribute to public policy in local, national and global settings.

This degree will equip you with industry-relevant specialist skills and prepare you for working and living in a world of constant technological, environmental, political and demographic change. The course provides an immersive and interactive learning experience and is designed to foster skills to critically evaluate evidence, develop and support arguments, conduct research using a variety of methodological approaches, communicate with impact, and understand the possibilities and challenges of public policy practice and reform. You will learn from accomplished and internationally-recognised academics, scholars and practitioners, and benefit from their wide-ranging intellectual expertise and real-world policy experience.
