Recognized as one of the best public universities in the country for preparing undergraduates for success, Miami University offers groundbreaking research opportunities, a classic liberal arts curriculum , outstanding career preparation , and an energetic campus vibe . Whether you arrive certain of your academic interest or are eager to explore, the university has a variety of programs to help you uncover your true passion. With over 200 majors, minors, and concentrations across a range of disciplines, you can specialize in practically anything, from Engineering and Computer Science to Business, Theatre, Communication — and everything in between.
As an undergraduate at Miami, you’ll live on campus in Oxford, Ohio , during your first two years to develop close connections with your peers and engage in its active, small-town community. Together, you’ll take advantage of the cultural events and visiting speakers, enjoy its bustling nightlife, and shop small at locally owned boutiques. Better yet, foodies will rejoice at the multitude of global flavors encompassing not just its brick-lined streets but also the university Dining Services, which continually consider medical needs, lifestyle choices, cultural backgrounds, and religious affiliations.
Always encouraging student growth through involvement and programming , Miami offers hundreds of student organizations, events, speakers, and workshops to partake in. Starting as early as your first year, university faculty will guide you in conducting important research, facilitating projects with real-world clients, and developing the leadership skills top employers seek. More than 2,800 undergraduates work with professors on funded research each year, engaged in activities as diverse as painting murals in urban neighborhoods to co-authoring published research papers to working toward crucial medical breakthroughs. It doesn’t matter if your passion is science, music, public service, or something else altogether, the university has an opportunity for you.
This manner of career development may seem uncommon at the undergraduate level, and it is. But what’s truly unique is that it doesn’t stop with research. At Miami, project mentors will connect you to job opportunities in your desired field, empowering you to optimize your professional and personal potential through connections with employers and the local community. What’s more, for those interested in graduate school, the university offers multiple combined bachelor’s-to-master’s programs so you can advance your studies and achieve your goals at an accelerated pace. And with the university’s network constantly in action, graduates enjoy an exceptional return on their investment. Miami University also provides undergraduate students and their families its Tuition Promise — the certainty that tuition, housing, meals, special purpose fees, and course fees will be frozen over the four years of a student’s Miami experience. This stability in costs ensures that a student’s renewable scholarships will retain their value over the entire four-year period — allowing students and their families the confidence to plan financially. As the No. 15 public university in the U.S. for four-year graduation rates, and with 98% of 2021 graduates employed or furthering their education by fall 2021, it’s no wonder that the Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report consider Miami University to be among the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education.

The Graduate School at Miami University serves a community of scholars immersed in the heart of the Miami experience: interdisciplinary research and collaborative inquiry. Representing a full selection of master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs spanning a wide range of disciplines, the school acts as a platform for discovery, innovation, and teamwork — all of which support the university’s mission to cultivate an environment where imagination and difference are appreciated and respected.
Founded on the belief that research, scholarship, and creative endeavors lead to a better understanding of both the world and the human condition, Miami’s graduate-level activities are primary drivers for the creation of new knowledge, solving complicated problems, and providing beauty and entertainment.
Beyond the classroom, life at Miami is vibrant, eclectic, and nonstop — there are endless opportunities to get involved and find your community, no matter your interests. The university even offers four graduate-specific groups for those looking to further broaden their educational experience: the Graduate Student Association, the Graduate Students of Color Association, the Graduate Student Pride Association, and the International Graduate Student Association.
Since most graduate students live off-campus in historic Oxford, Ohio , the university provides Off-Campus Outreach to help you make informed decisions about where and with whom to live, to help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a tenant and citizen, and to help promote a positive relationship with the local community. Surrounded by miles of generational family farms, Oxford boasts an award-winning farmer’s market, numerous arts organizations, delicious local restaurants, year-round events, and miles of hiking trails.
As of fall 2022, 97% of doctoral graduates and 99% of master’s graduates were successfully employed, enrolled in higher education, or in a volunteer/service program within six months of graduation. These numbers are due to the university’s rigorous academic experience, which allows high-achieving, intellectually curious students to prepare for success by conducting research, facilitating projects with real-world clients, and developing the leadership skills top employers seek. In fact, in Payscale.com’s 2019–2020 Salary Report, Miami ranked among the top public universities in the U.S. for return on investment, with graduates posting a mid-career median income of $118,400.
All things considered, Miami’s Graduate School is more than just a collection of advanced degrees and programs. It’s an ambitious body of faculty scholars committed to producing globally aware, successful graduates through the pursuit of new knowledge and best teaching practices.
