The Writing School for Cinema & Television, Major of the Master in Media and Entertainment, is divided into 1500 hours of training, divided between lectures, individual study, laboratories and final project work.


The Writing school for Cinema & Television allows participants to enhance their creative skills and acquire a solid managerial basis.


At the end of the Program participants will have studied the following areas in depth:


  • adaptation for cinema and tv : drawing from novels or plays proceed to establish the main storylines and subplots that will be composed and developed in the final script;
  • understand how and with what costs a film is produced : the possibilities of finding financing and capital through complex procedures;
  • editing movies : the relationship between writing and editing, editing tools, shots, sound;
  • writing a subject and scripting a film : all the phases that lead to the definitive screenplay of a film (subject, pitch, lineup, storyboard);
  • conceiving and producing a documentary : acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge on the creation of documentaries, understanding what a documentary is and 'what it is for', knowing the documentary "genres" (reality shows, biographical stories, etc.);
  • knowing how to analyze audiovisual communication data : how do you determine if a program is successful? Know the characteristics and evolutionary trends of distribution channels;
  • technical foundations of the audiovisual language : understanding the different ways of planning and developing an audiovisual project, going through all the production steps, from the writing and pre-production phase, passing through the creation of technical co-production agreements, up to the stage of implementation and distribution of projects.

How to apply

Luiss Business School application procedure involves Admission Test which evaluates the applicant’s skills, personal motivation and potential. The Admission Test can be held on campus in Rome (Italy) or remotely via Skype. Applications can be submitted on a rolling basis from October to July. The recruitment team offers dedicated support to candidates providing all necessary information concerning the admission process.

Tuition fees and scholarships

Please note that tuition fees vary depending on the programme. The One-year Master’s Programmes whole tuition fees range from 15,000 to 16,000 EUR. The MBA Programme whole tuition fees amount to 30,000 EUR. Luiss Business School offers different funding opportunities: scholarships, early bird, reductions and loans.
