English is a wide-ranging field of study that uses textual analysis to dig deeper into society and the surrounding. Students will learn about the historical development of English language literature - from the Medieval to the contemporary period - as well as different theoretical approaches to the study of literary and cultural texts. Courses include: Poetry; Film; Popular Culture; Creative, Academic, and Professional Writing; Gender Studies; Children’s Literature; and Fiction. Honours BA, BEd (English) I/S majors may only switch into this program if academically ineligible to continue in or complete the Honours program, and with permission of the Chair of the Department of English. An overall 60% average in English courses is required.
