Macao University of Tourism (UTM), established in 1995, is a public institution of higher education in Macao that offers degree programmes and professional training in tourism and hospitality in a wide range of tourism-related disciplines such as hospitality, tourism business, heritage, events, retail and marketing, leisure and entertainment, sports and recreation, creative and cultural studies, and culinary arts.

UTM has formed a partnership with top Swiss institutions to co-offer the  “3+1 Dual Degree” and Certificate Programmes , with the purpose of leveraging their respective strengths in teaching and creating room for better academic growth of the students.

Application Requirements of undergraduate programmes

Candidates must fulfil one of the following criteria:

- Form 6, Grade 12 graduates or equivalent, or

- Currently attending Form 6, Grade 12 or equivalent, or

- Aged 23 or above by 1 September 2024

Master's Degree Programmes

The Master of Science programmes aim at equipping the managers and future managers a combination of most advanced knowledge and management know-how in hospitality and tourism contexts. They feature a highlight on research and analytical competency development, an innovation orientation, as well as an exposure to real life management scenarios, all of which allow graduates to operate and manage in a highly dynamic environment. The programmes are structured by different combinations of learning modules, including internationalisation, hospitality, tourism, management, and project report/ internship & report.

Master of Philosophy Programme (MPhil):
The Master of Philosophy in International Hospitality and Tourism Management aims at preparing students for research and managerial positions in hospitality and tourism, equipping students with knowledge and skills in contributing to the advancement of the hospitality and tourism industry, as well as paving way for further research pursuit. 

The Macao University of Tourism offers the following Master of Philosophy Programme (MPhil) Programmes:

Tuition fee details

Application Requirements of postgraduate programmes

- A bachelor's degree in the areas of hotel and tourism management, food and beverage management, recreation and leisure management, or the like; OR

- A bachelor's degree in areas other than those listed above; admitted applicant may be required to enroll in at least one bridging course with a normal course duration of 40 hours.

- Both the International Food and Beverage Management and the International Gastronomy Management programmes are management-rich food studies programme. They are predominantly class-based teaching and are marginally related to practical cooking. As such, admission requires competencies in related fields of food studies - whether cooking ‘per se’ or not, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

- Bridging course is not applicable to Digital Marketing and Analytics.

- The following mainland applicants are required to submit current year’s National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (NPEE) permit and results reaching the required score line (一區分數線).

- Mainland applicants who are not bachelor’s degree graduates of the current year

- Mainland applicants who have obtained their bachelor's degree through self-study

- Mainland applicants who have obtained their bachelor's degree through online courses

UTM offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes, and the medium of instruction is either English or Chinese. These programmes are all management courses, which are designed to support the development of tourism industry and fulfil the future demand for management personnel in the industry.

UTM is a green campus comprises of Mong-Há Campus and Taipa Campus. Mong-Há Campus includes Inspiration Building, Pousada de Mong-Há, Team Building and Educational Restaurant Building; Taipa Campus includes Forward Building, East Asia Hall and SQ Building. In addition, UTM has two major training facilities, namely the Educational Hotel - Pousada de Mong-Há and the Educational Restaurant, to give students a real-life job exposure during their study.

Remarks: 1) The full programme fee is required even if the students have credit exemption or can complete the whole programme shorter than the normal programme duration. 2) Students are charged on programme fee basis and extension fee will be charged per semester for those failing to complete the programme within the normal duration. 3) If students of master's degree programmes failed the dissertation by maximum duration, they would be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma provided they have passed the required courses. 4) Fees are subject to annual review.


Scholarships
UTM provides the scholarship which is equal to 100% or 50% of tuition fee waiver to outstanding applicants upon admission. Applicants of Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degree programmes are all eligible for the scholarship. No application is needed and recipients are determined by the Scholarship Panel based on the applicants’ past academic performance, admission examination results or documents review.
