This is an innovative programme providing opportunities for graduates of cinema production courses, or similar, and experienced practitioners to broaden and renew their prior production knowledge and experience. The programme encourages and enables participants to explore the operational and aesthetic complexities of contemporary cinema production. Students will experience the collaborative nature of contemporary cinema production and explore how each specialised role enriches the complex art of cinema practice. Students will develop and produce a screen project from initial concept to screening of the final artefact. Each student may pitch an idea for development and production funding to a panel of screen industry representatives.

Upon completion of the programme, students will be equipped to conceive, develop and produce or participate in creative projects. Successful graduates will not only receive an MFA qualification but also take away significant creative and practical production experience, a network of like-minded colleagues, and a recognised screen industry production credit.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, established by Government Ordinance in 1984, is a leading tertiary institution in performing arts in Asia. It provides professional undergraduate education and practice-based postgraduate studies in Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music and Theatre and Entertainment Arts.
