The first cycle training offered by ENS-Bouzaréah aims to train future teachers for the three levels: primary, middle and secondary. In the French department, the modules taught belong to three fields: didactics, linguistics and literature. The syllabi followed by the teachers in the different modules combine a theoretical side and a practical side offered mainly by the language modules. Thus, students are introduced to the knowledge of disciplines, approaches, literary movements, linguistic and psychological theories, etc. They also work on the systematic practice of the language, the techniques of written and oral expression, phonetics, French syntax and semantics. Additionally, the Master courses are designed to mainly develop their research and critical skills as a preparatory stage for them as novice researchers. By the end of each degree, students are required to prepare a final studies project (for the license) and a thesis (for their Master’s degree) and do a practical training in schools as necessary accomplishment of their license.
