This intensive studio production program emphasizes analytical, creative, and experiential aspects of studio and new media art. It is designed to prepare students professionally as visual artists or for graduate study in the fine arts. Students devote a significant portion of their college careers to an in-depth study in their concentration. Students are admitted into the BFA by portfolio review only. In addition to completing the university-wide general education requirements and electives, majors must complete our core foundations experience, breadth and experience, art history and critical theory requirement, and required concentration courses. Students choose from one of these concentrations: Drawing, Graphic Design, New Media Art, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. A list of approved concentration courses is available from the department. The MS in Data Analytics Engineering is designed to provide students with an understanding of the technologies and methodologies necessary for data-driven decision-making. Students study topics such as data mining, information technology, statistical models, predictive analytics, optimization, risk analysis, and data visualization. It is aimed at students who wish to become data scientists and analysts in finance, marketing, operations, business intelligence and other information intensive groups generating and consuming large amounts of data. The focus of the degree is on the technologies and methodologies of data analytics and areas of expertise within the Volgenau School of Engineering.
