Top archaeology schools in the US & Canada
The US is fantastically well-represented in the archaeology ranking. Strong US performances come from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Yale University, the University of Chicago among others.
Fellow North American nation Canada has several representatives in the ranking, including University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta.
Top archaeology schools in Europe
European countries collectively account for the majority of the world's top 100 universities for archaeology. This includes universities in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden.
Top European universities include Germany’s Freie Universität Berlin, France’s Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the UK’s University of Sheffield and Italy’s Sapienza - Università di Roma.
Other European nations home to at least one of the world’s top archaeology departments include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Norway and Switzerland.

Australia claims several representatives in the ranking, including Australian National University, the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, the University of Queensland and the University of Western Australia.
Neighbouring New Zealand is represented by a particularly strong showing from University of Auckland. The University of Otago also is included.
