The core modules offered in the programme are designed to widen students’ understanding of the key theoretical issues, methodologies and approaches needed for a systematic study of translation. These modules will provide students with the interlingual and intercultural skills needed for well-informed translation decisions between Arabic and English and vice versa. In addition to the core modules, the programme offers you the opportunity to take a number of optional modules to allow you to tailor the MA to your own needs. The optional modules offer a wide range of professional and research skills that are all designed to enhance both students' theoretical awareness and translation performance in English to Arabic and Arabic to English translation in general and in such specialised areas as translation for international organisations. You study 120 credits of compulsory modules and 60 credits of optional modules. Please note, if you are studying this programme on a part-time basis these modules are divided equally over the 2 years of the programme.
