Varna University of Management

Varna University of Management (VUM) is a private not-for-profit higher education institution. The university was established in 1996 and is based in Varna, Bulgaria. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the fields of Business, Management, Hospitality, Tourism, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Marketing, Business Information Systems and Software Engineering.

 All VUM study programmes are accredited by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and by the British Accreditation Council and are delivered exclusively in English. VUM is the first Higher Education Institution in Bulgaria to receive accreditation by the British Accreditation Council.

The main campus of VUM is located in Varna, however the University has campuses also in Dobrich and in Sofia.

The University has a sophisticated network of active academic partners with more than 200 Universities from five continents. With partner universities in Brazil, Russia, Turkey and many others, VUM has an ongoing cooperation agreement for student transfer. The latter enables their students to enroll at VUM at a later stage of their studies and to graduate with triple degrees, namely a degree from their home university, a VUM degree as well as a degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK.

Thanks to the strategic partnership with the British University, and the recognition of the high quality of education executed at VUM, VUM students could graduate with a British degree with the entire period of studies completed in Bulgaria.  VUM offers the only British full-time MSc and MBA programmes entirely delivered in Bulgaria. These programmes are currently rated 17th worldwide (MSc in IHTM) and 7th in Central and Eastern Europe (MBA) by Eduniversal Best Masters ranking system.

VUM is deeply committed to the principles of internationalization and high quality of education. Thanks to its internationally recognized programmes, VUM has one of the highest international students’ rates in Bulgaria. In 2017/2018, full-time students from nearly 50 countries across the globe are studying at VUM, and more than 1/3 of all VUM students are international.

The University has always focussed on practically oriented academic programmes allowing students to obtain on the job training through participation in industry based internships and work placements. VUM maintains excellent connections with businesses and boasts a long-standing success of placing its students with top employers in USA, Australia, the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, just to name a few.

The long-term efforts and work of VUM academic community have been internationally recognized and validated. In 2018, in terms of student mobility and for a second year in a row, VUM is ranked 1st worldwide by U-Multirank. U-Multirank is an independent ranking system developed and co-funded by the European Commission that have compared more than 1600 Universities worldwide. In addition, VUM is a leading University for international orientation, teaching and learning and knowledge transfer according to U-Multirank.

VUM faculty is engaged in various international science and research projects. As one of the leading Business Schools in the country, every year VUM also hosts several International Conferences as well as the summer PhD seminar.
