All students, under the supervision of an anthropology faculty member, are required to complete a research project in some area of the student’s interest. All students learn strong basic research skills and become proficient in essential anthropological theory and methods. The hallmark of our department is the individual relationships between students and faculty and the possibility for all students to participate in cutting edge research. The department focuses on the four traditional subfields of anthropology: Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, Biological (Physical) Anthropology and Linguistics. The curriculum explores the relationship between humans, cultural institutions and the biophysical environment.
