This 2-year, part-time program is designed specifically for intern pharmacists, offering specialised training and skills in pharmacy practice. It combines academic excellence with pharmacy practice to provide intern pharmacists with the opportunity to gain a formal postgraduate qualification with a strong practical focus.

The first year of the program has been developed to address the competencies and standards required by the Pharmacy Board of Australia for general registration as a pharmacist.

The program has a focus on learning that's relevant to contemporary pharmacy practice. It is developed, delivered and supported by a team of community and hospital pharmacists with extensive practice experience.

During your study, you'll develop and apply knowledge and skills in a wide range of areas relevant to pharmacy practice, including:

  • calculations
  • clinical pharmacy
  • communication of information
  • complementary medicines
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • dispensing, dispensing procedures and risk management
  • drug interactions and adverse drug reactions
  • evidence-based practice
  • health promotion and harm minimisation
  • identifying and managing prescription problems
  • medicines information, patient interviewing and medication review
  • pharmacy legal and professional requirements

  • therapeutics.

This program offers a mix of course delivery, consisting of workplace activities, online self-paced background study material and online group discussions. These are supported by compulsory, interactive face-to-face seminars focusing on hands-on, small-group learning during each semester of the program.
