The Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Science provides an in-depth study of applied human physiology and how it relates to athletic performance and health and wellness across the lifespan. Additional areas of study focus on sport nutrition, environmental physiology and exercise biochemistry. Students interested in coaching will receive a thorough understanding of the physiological development of the athlete, and combine this knowledge with appropriate principles of coaching learning to maximize athlete potential and develop realistic and attainable training goals. Students can choose among three tracks within the Sport and Exercise Science Program: Applied Exercise Physiology, Coaching or Sport Nutrition. The Coaching track in the Sport and Exercise Science MS program prepares students to become more effective coaches by understanding scientific aspects of human performance. Program graduates have gone on to careers in areas such as coaching at all levels of sport, intercollegiate and interscholastic athletics administration, parks and recreation, fitness and health club leadership, and community sport centers.

Students must have a Bachelor (Honours) consisting of four or more years of full-time study, or a Bachelor degree following a National Certificate or National Diploma. International students also have the following other English language requirements: a minimum 220 on TOEFL (computer-based).
