The objective of this program is to produce economics graduates equipped with economic theory and methodology sufficient to conduct research and study in economic fields at high levels and to produce economics graduates capable of becoming lecturers and researchers, able to encourage analytical thinking in students at the secondary and tertiary levels, and specialists in economic analysis and planning in public and private organizations as well as their own businesses. A degree in economics offers a variety of career options. In fact, economists can choose from a wide range of employers from government agencies to non-profit organizations to consulting firms and universities. Most of our graduate students have a good opportunity to apply their economics insights to various sectors such as private sector, namely, commercial banks, financial institution and international companies and public sector, for instance, Professor in economics, Ministry of Finance and Bank of Thailand. Moreover, some graduate students pursue the Doctoral Degree internationally or domestically.

Applicants must have completed a master’s degree or the equivalent from a recognized domestic or international institution. Required Documents include: certificate of health from a government hospital, copy of citizen ID card/passport, and letters of recommendation (one letter should be completed by a university faculty member, if applicable).

Thammasat offers graduate degree programs in all fields, covering sociology, humanities, science and technology, and health sciences, in Thai, bilingual and international programs.

There are two types of lecture sessions: normal programs in office hours and special programs in the evenings or on weekends.

Students on master’s degree programs can pursue their own interests in research-oriented programs. Students are required to complete a “thesis” to contribute to a new body of knowledge or conduct a specialized study in their industries or careers.

The doctorate degree programs encourage students to conduct a “dissertation” research contributing to the country’s development and new technologies.
