The largest state institution in Texas, the Texas State University is home to over 38,500 students spread across ten academic colleges. These colleges are: Applied Arts; Business Administration; Education; Fine Arts and Communication; Health Professions; Liberal Arts; Science and Engineering; Graduate College; Honors College; and University College.
The vast majority of students at Texas State University are studying at undergraduate level (over 30,000). Texas high school graduates with a grade point average that places them in the top 10 percent of their high school class gain an automatic place at Texas State University should they want it. Hispanic students make up nearly a third of the entire student population.
The Texas State University campus covers a vast area of 492 acres, with the Quad as its main focus. The university has been designated as an emerging research university and has facilities which focus on biotechnology and environmental sustainability. It’s also home to the largest forensics research facility in the world.
