To achieve sustainable development, companies are required to properly manage (among other things) energy and products/materials flows along their lifecycle, i.e. the so-called Circular Economy. Both topics have been recently affected by evolutionary trends such as the diffusion of digital technologies and the evolution of the role of consumers (e.g., becoming prosumers in the energy value chain), which have strong managerial implications for the companies involved. In light of the above, new managerial figures are necessary for companies to lead their transition towards sustainability, which requires a deep evolution of their business models and the way in which they carry out innovation projects.

The  International Master in Environmental Sustainability & Circular Economy will allow students to develop the following abilities:

> the ability to set up a sustainability-oriented strategy, with particular reference to circular economy and energy management

> the ability to evaluate and select strategic alternatives in the energy management and circular economy fields

> the ability to design sustainable product, services and business models

> the ability to navigate complex ecosystems (e.g., smart communities and cities) and put into practice the sustainability-oriented strategy

> the ability to manage a “sustainable” company with the need to evolve towards a more sustainable and circular economic model, both from a strategic and tactical perspective

> a deep understanding of the macro-trends that are putting the sustainability topic at the top of the agenda for companies, policy makers and the society as a whole

> the ability to effectively implement a sustainability-oriented strategy
