Study Level

Masters

The Master of Arts (MA) in Theatre prepares students for terminal degree programs or professional careers. Graduate students in Theatre work academically and artistically in a small, supportive program. The MA degree requires courses in theatre history, dramatic literature and criticism, as well as directing and dramaturgy. Students may choose to pursue one of the two tracks offered: the thesis or the creative component. Students who opt to complete a creative component may select from the areas of performance, directing, dramaturgy, or production. Regardless of track, students also select elective courses to craft individualized plans of study. In order to encourage interdiscplinary connections, all MA students are required to take at least one approved course offered outside the Department of Theatre.
