Archaeologists engage with material cultures and processes of the past, using foundational scientific approaches from biology, physics, and chemistry. GIS, drones, and 3D-imaging are critical in our fieldwork; and we incorporate humanistic approaches, including anthropology, art history and linguistics. Ancient historians explore records, artifacts, and monuments to reconstruct the narratives of human experience.
The program currently hosts archaeological projects in Uzbekistan, Oman and Egypt, and offers opportunities for hands-on field and lab-based research.

Undergraduate academic areas at NYU Abu Dhabi are divided into major and minor subjects across the five faculties of Arts and Humanities, Engineering, Science, and Social Science. Fields of study are numerous and include options from African Studies to Urbanization. During four years of undergraduate study, students have an extensive choice of courses in all disciplines and are able to fulfill all graduation requirements.
Undergraduate students applying to NYU Abu Dhabi with UAE nationality or Emirati mothers can apply for financial aid through the university and the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed NYUAD Scholarship for Exceptional Emirati Students. In addition, UAE national students may be eligible for a need-based personal support award. Students who wish to be considered for financial aid must complete a CSS Profile application.
