The Medical University of Warsaw is one of the oldest medical schools in Poland. For over 200 years it has provided education and training in medicine and pharmacy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Universitie's programs meet the highest international standards of university-level education and are based on the principles of good clinical and pharmaceutical practice.
The academic staff of the Medical University of Warsaw are recognized nationally and internationally for their contributions to the research and practice in medicine. Many of them hold the prestigious posts of National Medical Consultants.
The Medical University of Warsaw provides general and specialty training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students learn at our six clinical teaching hospitals who provide general and tertiary medical care to patients. Our students and staff also conduct scientific and clinical research at these hospitals as well as are involved in a number of clinical academic departments located in other hospitals in Warsaw.
The Medical University of Warsaw offers 19 degree programs including 3 full-time degree programs in English: Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy.

The Medical University of Warsaw has managed to establish a recognized international position in research, both in clinical and theoretical medicine. The University has scientific research cooperation with many universities and research institutions in Europe, especially Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain. At present this cooperation is also being developed with other foreign partners from Europe, USA and Asia – China, India, Malaysia and Japan. Research projects are conducted and developed in clinical medicine in: nephrology, transplantology, cardiology, hematology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, dermatology, neurology, pulmonology, ophthalmology, urology, surgery, orthopaedics, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, venereology and dentistry, as well as in theoretical medicine (histology, immunology, anatomy, biology, pharmacology and physiology).
The scientific cooperation involves an exchange of researchers, as well as joint research projects and publications. Research at the Medical University of Warsaw is funded by the University’s own funds, grants from the Polish Committee for Scientific Research (approx. 150 projects annually), and by the European Union research funds (6th and 7th Framework Programmes).
The teaching hospitals with their teams of dedicated specialists and subspecialists provide the most specialized level of health care, carry out research and offer undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education programmes. As specialist tertiary referral centres, these hospitals administer health care in their numerous inpatient and outpatient departments.
