Physics is in many ways the parent of other natural sciences – its discoveries and laws continually affect their development. The subfields of physics, such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, atomic physics, and quantum mechanics, permeate all other scientific disciplines.

If you’d like to take a deep dive into the subject, McGill has a rigorous, challenging Honours program in Physics that will prepare you for graduate studies and academic or professional work in the field.

Some of the most exciting research happens where Physics intersects with other fields. We offer concentrations in Biological Physics, Atmospheric Sciences and Physics, Physics and Geophysics, and even a joint minor in Electrical Engineering. These programs are a great opportunity to hone in on your interests. For aspiring science teachers – you can even pursue a Physics degree with an educational component.
